Jakub Szary - Lab Manager B.Sc., AScT.

Jakub Szary is a registered member as an Applied Science Technologist (AScT) with ASTTBC, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics and Physics, and has been working at GeoPacific Consultants Ltd. since August of 2011. Over the course of his employment, Jakub has advanced from an engineering technician to manager of GeoPacific’s soils, aggregate, and asphalt testing laboratory. He has a variety of field engineering and testing experience, as well as project management, design, budgeting/estimating, and training experience. Jakub has completed numerous pavement assessment and design projects throughout the Lower Mainland using Benkelman Beam Testing, geotechnical drilling investigations, and plate load testing. Projects have varied in scope from typical municipal roadway upgrades/recommendations to heavy wheel load applications such as container yard projects. In addition, Jakub oversees the laboratory’s CCIL certification process.

Jakub is also involved with the company’s geotechnical monitoring work and has experience, programming, installing, and monitoring a variety of geotechnical instruments including tiltmeters, piezometers, vibration sensors, robotic total stations, inclinometers, acoustic sensors, load cells, and strain gauges. Monitoring projects have included SkyTrain infrastructure, tunnels, buildings, bridges, and deep shoring elements (such as anchor loads & retaining walls).
