Gillian Williams - MBA., M.Sc., P.Geo.
Gillian joined GeoPacific in September 2015 as Operations Manager. Gillian has 17 years experience in the gold mining and exploration industry. In her current role she overseas the operations of the engineering, administration and drafting departments. She is responsible for implementing strategic initiatives across the business as well as performance management; health and safety and permit to practice management plans. She also manages the pursuit and preparation of complex proposals/ RFPs/ RFQs.
Gillian began her career working as a geologist on the deep underground gold mines in South Africa. Gillian transitioned into exploration, and has worked on gold exploration projects in South Africa, Brazil, Argentina, Columbia, DRC, Mali, Guinea, Egypt, Eritrea, Uganda, Burundi and Tanzania. Before completing her MBA and moving to Canada, Gillian was an exploration manager in Tanzania, where she successfully managed the re-entrance of AngloGold Ashanti Greenfields exploration through the drilling of two projects and the monitoring and evaluation of exploration opportunities throughout East Africa. In addition to this she also established and operated a new office. Her biggest success and challenge was engaging with a diverse workforce, as well as engaging with various stakeholders (government, JV partners and communities).
Gillian completed her Bachelor of Science with Honours (B.Sc.(Hons)), Geology at the University of Witwatersrand and her Masters in Exploration Geology (M.Sc.) at Rhodes University. Her MBA was completed at GIBS Business School, University of Pretoria.
Gillian is a registered Professional Geologist in British Columbia and Alberta.
